I posted in here a few days ago and got some good advice so I was hoping someone might have some other suggestions that may help. Basically Last Sunday (21 June)my 7 month old DD decided that she would no longer breast feed. She has never had a bottle so she wouldn't drink expressed milk out of a bottle but she would sip milk out of a cup - but only sips. She would also sip water and she kept on eating her purees. towards the end of the week she was starting to refuse purees or any sips of water or anything. I took her to the GP her told me to take her to emergency as she was all lethargic. They put a tube in her nose to her tummy and rehydrated her. She was in hospital for a day and a half and she has now been discharged. Basically she has a sore throat and teething pain and it hurts her to drink so she won't. They are hoping that over the next few days she will feel better and start to feed again. If she doesn't she will have to go back and get the nasal gastric tube again. Any ideas how to get her to drink? I don't care if it is breast feeding, expressed milk somehow, formula or even juice or water. She just needs to drink. ****UPDATE**** I took her to the hospital on Saturday night and they put another tube in her nose and gave her another bag of Hydralite. They let her go home after the bag went thru (takes 4 hours for the bag to go thru)as they thought she would rest more at home and may be more inclined to drink at home but to bring her back if she didn't. Sunday, she didn't really drink anything at all and she was exhausted from her night in emergency (we were there for about 8 hours). Last night she slept all the way thru to 4am when I woke up. She normally is a bad sleeper so this was really unusual and a bad sign. I went in to check on her and by checking she woke up. She was just laying there staring at me not crying or moving or anything. I went and got a bottle of EBM that I had been collecting and warmed it and gave it to her. She drunk 200ml. I was soooooo happy. She had 100ml of formula at lunch today in a bottle, another 60ml at afternoon tea and just as she went to bed she had 110ml of formula. I know she is still not drinking what she should be but it is a hell of a lot better then what she had been doing. Also her nappy volume has increased heaps. I still wouldn't say they are as wet as they were before but she is now doing about 120ml per nappy. She is getting better thankfully. Thankyou so much for all of your replies, suggestions and thoughts. [Edited on 29/06/2009] [Edited on 29/06/2009]
